The city’s main art museum is one of the largest art museums in Scandinavia with a collection covering art from the 18th century to the present day. The iconic glass structure on the roof, Your Rainbow Panorama, was designed by Olafur Eliasson and features a promenade offering a colourful panorama of the city.

Walkable seaside panorama sculpture by Danish architect studio Gjøde & Povlsgaard Arkitekter built and exhibited in connection with the international biennale, Sculpture by the Sea 2015, that takes place in the scenic coastal landscape surrounding the city of Aarhus.

NEURO is the first of its kind in the world: the venue will bring together psychiatry and neuroscience under one roof to combine groundbreaking science and treatment of physical and mental brain diseases, spinal cord and nervous systems. The 20,000 sqm building design for Aarhus University Hospital mimics the gyrification of the human brain to utilize the limited site area most efficiently while creating synergies between the different disciplines within the hospital.

The e-architect editors enjoyed our visit to this new intervention. The rural architectural project allows access to one of Denmark’s archaeological gems, while offering and intricate spatial experience. It allows visitors to enter and climb the main space of the tower, contrasting new built forms against the historic structure.

The first building in Northern Europe to obtain the exclusive LEED certification category platinum. At the time of building completion only around 150 commercial buildings in the world had obtained the American LEED certificate in the platinum category.

Salling Tower at Aarhus Harbour by Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter:

This waterfront structure is made of welded steel plates, shaped like a sharp origami cut, an urban sculpture with a significant architectural expression. The white steel tower stands out as a glowing landmark giving identity to the dockland area.

This 13,000 sqm building includes port administration offices, workshops and warehousing, a customer reception centre, security management and staff welfare facilities as well as a public cafeteria.
