The journey down a winding road and through a pine tree forest ends at the Buisson Residence. Situated on a grass knoll and commanding views of Lake Anna in central Virginia, the house emerges as a long, white painted brick wall with a copper clad volume cantilevered above the wall.

Design: Drew Mandel Architects. Although it lacks a classic beach charm, the house has an elusive quality of heart and soul which the project team tried to uphold. Looking closely at the brick lines relative to the right angle of the new box window in the image of the front façade, the house leans to, or yearns for, the lake.

This was FIABCI’s 65th World Congress, which annually attracts global real estate industry leaders. This year’s event included over 1,000 attendees who participated in opportunities to network, build business, share experiences, advance industry knowledge and stimulate conversations.

Architects: Caruso St John. One of the world’s most famous and distinguished art galleries has completed a significant refurbishment, intended to extend the repertoire of social spaces inside the gallery.

This is the first phase in a programme called ‘Transforming Tate Britain’: a refurbishment of the south eastern galleries, the creation of a new schools’ area, a new café, bringing the upper level back into public use and opening up a new members’ area.

The piazza which lies at the heart of the project sits astride two pre-existing axial routes, and alongside six storey tenement style housing with shops built there in the 1950s and 60s. the intervention by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP) takes the form of an ensemble of buildings.
