Woods Bagot WAF Shortlist 2018 News

Woods Bagot’s six shortlisted WAF projects are: Younghusband Woolstore Development, Melbourne Innovation Precinct and Elwood House (Melbourne); Short Lane (Sydney); St Mary’s Calne School Library (London); and Sunshine Insurance Plaza (Beijing). West Hotel (Sydney, with Fitzpatrick + Partners) is shortlisted in the INSIDE World of Interiors Awards.

Selected from a record number of entries, WAF’s 536-strong shortlist includes projects from 81 countries across 39 prizes and categories.

Woods Bagot‘s global design leader, Domenic Alvaro, said the WAF Awards are significant for being recognised by architects and client alike. It is also the only architecture event where keynote talks from leading international figures sit alongside live judging presentations from over 400 award finalists.

“Being a multi-project finalist at WAF affirms Woods Bagot’s place on the international stage. It’s immensely gratifying as a global studio to now present these projects to the exceptional talent of our national and international peers,” Mr Alvaro said.

Woods Bagot will present each shortlisted project to judges in a series of live events at the festival in Amsterdam, 28 to 30 November. The awards will be decided by over 130 judges from more than 35 countries.

Conceived as an urban garden, Short Lane is an undertaking in providing humans with a connection to nature in a dense, inner-urban setting that lacks greenery.
