Tajikistan Buildings
The Tashkhaja Asiri Regional Public Library, Khujand:
Clerestory windows filter light into the central void, which features an ornate ceiling. The building’s exterior is currently undergoing renovation work.
Central Circus, Dushanbe:
The circus was constructed in the early 1970s, however has since been adapted to accommodate multiple functions such as cafes and shops. However, it does still occasionally play host to a circus.
Yakkasaroy Building, Dushanbe:
This elegant building is set back from a main road in a leafy garden which has fallen into disrepair.
Hotel Avesto, Dushanbe:
A beautiful stained-glass window forms the central feature of the foyer of the hotel, situated just off of Dushanbe’s central avenue.
Barbad Concert Hall, Dushanbe:
The earthquake-proof joints between the panels of the concert hall lend it its distinctive form, a theme which is carried through in the artwork which adorns the walls of the building.
