Casa Palermo Villa Maria Cordoba

The Palermo House is built on a small corner lot 25 meters long by 10 meters wide. Surrounded by large green spaces, trees, beach and the Tcalamuchita River, which is why users decided to settle here to enjoy their retirement.

The whole design revolves around a CLOISTER-type patio that resembles those old houses so characteristic of the region where the clients lived and developed in the beginning.

This residence has a total of 350 m2 and is arranged on the ground floor, upper floor and terraces. The entrance through the middle of the corner lot allows us to perfectly differentiate the public and private spaces of the house, and how they can mutate and be appropriated in different ways to achieve a totally public ground floor for special occasions such as holidays. In this way we stop losing large square meters in services or saved to become common use in case the user so chooses.

The first floor, semi-private, where the cinema and vegetable garden coexist, with the safest and most private areas such as the bedroom area. And finally we find the second floor, a highly public area and a meeting place par excellence for the family, where the user can share moments on a terrace that opens onto the river or choose to sunbathe in an elevated pool that it flies and appears over the cloister where everything is combined in perfect harmony between the great crowns of the surrounding trees, the river, the green wall and the sky.

To achieve this dialogue between the exterior and interior, a large reinforced concrete exoskeleton was created that allows, not only the privacy of the family towards the interior, but also creates shadows and colors that constantly change according to the seasons of the year, thus managing to connect with the user, and also with the pedestrian who experiences their daily walk on the city’s waterfront.

This typical CLOISTER, very common in our area, is the protagonist of a design intervention, not only architectural, but also sustainable, from the light, sunlight and energy point of view. The whole life, both private and public, of the house, will revolve around the patio, giving the interior a higher quality of life and inviting the user to enjoy continuously and without restrictions.

Likewise, it serves to regulate the temperature of the whole house, and with the incorporation of green walls, the aromatics and colors will take over the internal and external scenes, through large glazing with D.V.H. They will be able to live and communicate from all parts of the house.

It has a very strong stamp of sustainability, prompting the user to appropriate every aspect of the house, where the Residence becomes one more member of the family, incorporating food through the garden it has on the upper floor, or retaining water to its intelligent distribution in times of drought.

With the support of solar panels, solar collector, LED lighting and general home automation, it helps make daily life easier and significantly saves maintenance costs.
