Reorganizing Your Kitchen Design Hacks

17 Oct 2022

As one of the most used areas in the home, the kitchen goes through a lot. Over time, things can build up in it, and before you know it, the space becomes very cluttered. A crowded kitchen isn’t only unsightly and difficult to get around in but can be a sanitary issue.

Reorganizing Your Kitchen

If you want to adjust your kitchen, check out the hacks below, which can help you get it organized.

1.  Get Rid of Things

If you’re serious about revamping your kitchen, spend time getting rid of things you don’t want or need, which will help clear up a lot of space.

As you go through the room, look at every item and determine whether you should keep, donate, or throw away. This process can be time-consuming, but once you get going, you’ll find that it will truly help you reorganize your kitchen.

During this time, also clean out the cabinets and storage space. This will freshen things up and make it simpler for you to get things organized again.

2.  Use a Labeling System

One of the best ways to keep things tidy is to implement a labeling system. This will assist you with finding and identifying things easily, especially if they’re with items that tend to look similar, like sugar and salt.

You can buy pre-made stickers and place them on containers to make a labeling system. If you’re feeling creative, you could also make your own.

3.  Get Roll-Out Shelves

Another great way to keep your kitchen in good shape is to install roll-out shelves. As their name implies, they pull out of your cabinets, making it easier for you to reach items. This also allows you to use areas in your cabinets that would otherwise be difficult to access.

Roll-out shelves come in multiple designs and can be fitted for various areas. This includes regular cabinets to corner caddies. Many pull out shelves in Folsom, CA, also come with a design session. After contacting a local seller, you can discuss what you’re looking for in them, and a designer will get to work creating your ideal shelves. Once you confirm the design, the installation process can begin!

4.  Rely on Steamer Baskets to Hold Food

Adding steamer baskets to your kitchen might seem like it would only take up more space and make organizing a nightmare, but they have the opposite effect.

Steamer baskets aren’t only stylish but help clear up space around the kitchen. You can use them to hold potatoes, onion, garlic, and similar items. They can also be used to cook food, making them a great tool to have on hand.

5. Use a Tension Rod

Tension rods are an odd yet useful hack for kitchen reorganization. By placing one in your cabinets or under the sink, you can hang things off it, like cleaning bottles. This makes them easier to grab and keeps them from falling over and making a mess.

Besides being used to keep spray bottles in order, tension rods can be placed in drawers to separate dishes. You can place them vertically inside and then place lids, plates, cutting boards, and bottles between them. This keeps them from sliding around and helps you easily reach inside and grab what you need.

6.  Get Jars

Jars can help clear up space in your pantry, especially when it comes to items like beans, flour, and sugar that can be chaos if they spill. You can keep a scoop or similar utensils nearby to remove them as needed.

Another perk of using jars is that you can arrange them on the counter to act as decor and so that they’re easily accessible. Better yet, they don’t take up much space, so your kitchen won’t get extra crowded as you try reorganizing it.

7.  Utilize a Pantry Rack

Pantries can get messy quickly. If you don’t keep up on cleaning it out, you’ll find it will be difficult to find food. You might even overlook certain items that expired and are rotting away inside.

A pantry rack will assist you with preventing this. You can place it on the back of the pantry door and fill it with spices, cans, and similar goods. This keeps them in one place and easy to access. It’s also pretty cheap, so you could invest in multiple ones if needed.

8.  Adding Shelving

If you still find that you need more space, use shelving. You can place these throughout your kitchen and use them to hold decor or essential items. Shelves come in multiple styles, too, so you’ll easily find something that matches the room’s theme.

Just remember not to overdo it, though. Too many shelves can look a bit odd and messy. Ideally, add anywhere from one to three.
