Leading NYC Architect and Designer, Glen Coben Reveals Custom Modern Victorian Design for Iconic Hotel and Restaurant

NEW YORK – November 2, 2017 – – Renowned architectural and interior design firm, Glen & Co. Architecture redesigned the interiors of the historic The Adelphi Hotel in Saratoga Springs, which just official re-opened.
In this multimillion-dollar renovation of the 19th century, four-story building, Glen Coben and his team transformed it into one of splendor and luxury, combined with 21st century modern comforts and amenities. Mr. Coben created a cohesive design narrative that focused on a custom concept that pays homage to the original 1877 building that represents one of America’s most historic and iconic hotels.

Glen & Company Architecture refurbished the interiors of the hotel with a nod to the property’s history through its sophisticated redesign of the 32 guest rooms; the hotel’s public spaces, including the lobby and adjacent bar, Morrissey’s; the restaurant, The Blue Hen; the ballroom and space that can accommodate a wide range of events for up to 250 persons among others. The team incorporated design elements of floriography, which speaks to the robust seasons of Upstate New York, a place where many consider the market garden of the state.
Upon entering The Adelphi Hotel, guests will step on plush, custom-designed carpets inspired by symbols of hospitality and incorporating design details including local vegetables. The custom damask wallcovering is inspired by classic Victorian patterns and upgraded with floriography symbols and perfectly complements the custom light fixtures throughout the public spaces and guests rooms, which will speak to the fresh ingredients found on the restaurant’s menu.
“The Adelphi Hotel has been open for more than 150 years and has always been a gathering space in Saratoga Springs. It is an honor to be working with the Adelphi Hospitality Group to continue building the legacy of this hotel in Saratoga Springs,” said Coben. “Through the redesign, we remained committed to respecting The Adelphi Hotel’s historic charm, while updating the spaces with a modern luxury look and amenities.”
Guests will also appreciate Mr. Coben’s repurposing many of the The Adelphi Hotel’s original furniture pieces, which were reupholstered with contemporary touches to create an ambiance of modern Victorian. Guest rooms will include custom-designed canopy beds in several suites. Bathrooms will showcase modern day amenities such as luxurious spa-like showers with rain heads, heated floors, heated towel bars and custom amenities.
