Concrete Wave in Paris
2015, year of the international conference on Climate. And the City? The two subjects being interrelated, scientists and engineers need a place dedicated to research to develop the urban metropolis of tomorrow. This place is the Espace Bienvenüe in Marne-la-Vallée (Val-de-Marne, Paris area), which has just opened in the area of the Cité Descartes.
The Concrete Wave was designed by architect Jean-Philippe Pargade, this Scientific and Technical Pole (PST) includes laboratories specialized in civil engineering where engineers and researchers are testing materials and innovating in the field of energy management and transport.
The “landscape wave” which is facing the School of Civil Engineering is made possible by the development of exceptional technical solutions. These techniques are the same as those used for bridges. Below this vault, there is the technical testing slab (the second biggest of the world, full size), where concrete is tested.
PST and its majestic vault symbolize the new heart of the campus. Breaks in the roof of the vault illuminate the interior. On the rooftop, a « green carpet » offers users a space for reflection and relaxation : the wooden huts of the japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata will be installed there.
You will find in attachement the complete press kit,
Please come back to us if you need anything else, visuals in high resolution (thereafter others appercus of the building).
