A withdrawal in the middle of the city, away from the hustle and bustle, is made possible. From the outside the tripartite interlocked structure is supplied with a special plaster (in German called “Besenputz”), like the residences close to the city, but is pushed to the fore with the colour pure white.

The building comes to life with its cantilevers, with its shadow play in the façade. In the interior the colour white runs through, but this time coarse-grained, tough, cave-like, and can be found in the illuminated spaces and paths as well as in the rooms.

Gerd Bergmeister was born in Brixen, Italy, in 1969. After completing his architectural studies at the “leopold franzens universität” in Innsbruck, he soon established his office “gerd bergmeister architekten” in Brixen.

Michaela Wolf was born in Meran, Italy, in 1979. She studied architecture at the “Leopold Franzens Universität” in Innsbruck, at the “Architectural Association” in London (AA) and the “Politecnico di Milano”. She joined the architectural office of Gerd Bergmeister in 2006. Gerd Bergmeister and Michaela Wolf began their common professional path in 2009 with the establishment of the office “bergmeisterwolf architekten”.

“We consider architecture as a developing process, a challenge of the task, a never-ending thinking process. Problems are seen as an opportunity whose aim is to go far beyond the originally assigned and to let new possibilities evolve”. Projects are seen as a positive tension between builders and architects allowing an informal access to space, material and colours. Our architecture is often experienced as simple. Simplicity – at its first encounter – mostly gives the deep-rooted impression of having always existed: being part of the world, working with its forces not against them. It is the goal of our architecture to find these synergies.

Bergmeisterwolf architects have already achieved several awards of appreciation. They have also notched up competition success in various occasions and have participated at different workshops. They have also been invited to give several lectures at home and abroad, they have acted as members of a jury and can look back on several publications.
