RIBA President’s Medals Student Awards 2016
The winners of the 2016 RIBA President’s Medals were announced at a ceremony at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in central London on the 6th December 2016.
Artillery Mansions in Westminster, London
Design: FORMstudio. Designed and built in the 1990s, the original layout of this central London flat conformed to the standard cookie cutter solution. Defined almost entirely by compliance with regulations and conservative market convention.
De Gaspé House Montreal, Villeray home
Design: la SHED architecture. Situated in the centre of the Villeray district, the De Gaspé House project consisted of the major renovation of an existing building that changed most of its original characteristics.
Duke University’s New West Campus in North Carolina
Design: Grimshaw Architects. Located on Abele Quad, the new student union re-establishes itself as the heart of student life and the communal centre of Duke’s historic campus in Durham, North Carolina, USA.
Cultural Plaza and Digital Port Namur
Architects: 3XN. The Digital Port will be a cultural building with a range of activities, where modern technologies will be made available to citizens and visitors to the Smart City project
Bamboo Gateway in Guizhou
Architects: West-line studio
The Zhuhai National Park is located in the region of Chishui, in Guizhou province, in South-West China. The 10,000 hectares park is characterized by the unique presence of the so-called Bamboo Sea.
85 Perry Street Townhouse in Greenwich Village
Sale of a 2,850 sqft four -bedroom townhouse in the heart of Greenwich Village. On one of Manhattan’s most famous roads it was the home of character Carrie Bradshaw, played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex and the City series.
Domus Aurea in Monterrey Building

The Hill House in Winchester, Hampshire
Architect: AR Design Studio. The Hill House is located in an area of Winchester that has a hidden and secluded feel, yet funnily it has some of the greatest views in the city.
Zazz Boutique in Québec City, Canada
Design: Hatem+D Architecture
The client was looking to create a customer experience in which paths lead them through areas displaying the different products. The general concept is built around the linearity of hair.
Camberwell Grammar School Chapel in Melbourne
Design: Peter Crone Architects. As part of Camberwell Grammar School’s recent campus development, AR-MA worked with ARC Roofing, Cockram Construction, and Peter Crone Architects on the technical design of the school’s new chapel.
