Integrated Energy Design : Cutting edge architecture that reduces energy consumption
Henning Larsen Architects will participate as part of the Danish pavilion in the exhibition at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi 19-21 January 2009. With the conception of Integrated Energy Design architecture itself has become a tool to reduce energy consumption. Sustainability is considered already in the early creative design phase.
The building industry accounts for 40 percent of the overall energy consumption. Often just a variety of energy saving technologies is applied to new building projects. Henning Larsen Architects work with Integrated Energy Design to create energy saving design solutions and masterplans.
Design itself can reduce energy consumption by 80 percent.
‘Sustainability in building construction has never been more important and architects must draw up clear goals and include state-of-the-art technological possibilities for energy-friendly design,’ says Design Director Louis Becker, Henning Larsen Architects. ‘In order to make a serious impact the design must be formed energy-friendly right from the outset.
More than 100 architects work with Integrated Energy Design at Henning Larsen Architects. In the creative phase the energy consumption of the design is continuously simulated to improve the design and create better energy-optimised buildings and urban areas.
For the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Henning Larsen Architects has created a visionary masterplan including a Project Environmental Sustainability Policy to help the client achieve a standard that will be seen as a world-class example of sustainable development. The project is presented at the World Future Energy Summit. Principal Jacob Kurek, Henning Larsen Middle East, and Design Director Louis Becker will be present at the exhibition.
