The Albatross Residence is a three-storey pair of beach residences with an east-facing aspect toward the pacific ocean, situated along a narrow, busy thoroughfare. Calyx House, Hobart Building
The clients for this contemporary Tasmanian home came with a concept and preferred building system – Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The Panopticon House project is a hybrid of modernist and classical rural villa ideals, exploring the house as figured object versus the disappearing enclosure. Spinifex House Adelaide Australia

Spinifex House in Adelaide
At probably half the size of many houses that now line the metro beachfront, this contemporary property is like that new kid in the playground dwarfed by the surrounding bullish show-offs. Emulating the old shacks, she touches the ground lightly, respecting the dune and blurring the boundary to the adjacent reserve.

Torrens Park Residence in Adelaide
The client has a passion for and understanding of mid-century architecture and we felt fortunate to have an opportunity to showcase our traditional craftsmanship techniques. The home interacts seamlessly between inside and out. We created new spaces that were consistent with the existing.

PR House in Adelaide, South Australia
This beach home replaces the client’s dilapidated but loved 1960s beach shack. To maintain a ‘shack’ feel, materials are natural, robust and low maintenance, and the simple square footprint was influenced by the previous dwelling.

Merricks Residence on the Mornington Peninsula
The site overlooking the Mornington Peninsula is approached by a long winding drive through an established vineyard. On approach, the house gives little away, presenting an abstract, modest façade as it appears from behind a break in a large hedge.

Tent House, Noosa, Queensland
Design: Sparks Architects
Tent House Noosa Queensland
photo : Christopher Frederick Jones
Tent House in Noosa, Queensland
This forest clearing addressing a pocket of rainforest in the Noosa hinterland, is approached through a typical neighbourhood of rural houses and acreage dwellings. The journey to the house continues from the street via a winding bush track through the forest which acts as a threshold between the constructed world and that of the clearing, a place remnant of early settlement in the region; a camp.

Stratum Residence Gold Coast Queensland
photo : Scott Burrows

In essence, the brief for Stratum was to create a beautiful, modernist home that celebrated views over the adjacent golf course to the rear of the property. Joe Adsett Architects were presented with a design challenge of capturing both the South facing views and desirable North facing amenity.
