Mountain View House
On a hillside site in a Central Austin neighborhood, Thoughtbarn designed Mountain View House for three generations. Located adjacent to the much-loved greenbelt, the lot slopes to the south overlooking an undulating tree canopy.
Their task for designing this house was to design an elegant, light-filled residence that takes advantage of the expansive views while rooting itself into the steep terrain.
A large wrap-around porch, covered by a generous roof eave, allows uninterrupted southern views, while shading the large openings from the direct afternoon sun.
Internally, attention is given to balancing the private and communal activities of the different family members, with all bedrooms and living areas enjoying views of the greenbelt.
