North of Brooklyn – Avenue Road
North of Brooklyn, recently opened it’s 7th location on Avenue Road in Toronto’s York neighborhood. The design is a contemporary reimagination of a classic New York pizza parlor. Balancing nostalgia and modernity, the interior captures the essence of the past while embracing present design sensibilities.
Upon entering, guests are greeted by a custom patterned mosaic adorning the floor, skillfully crafted to evoke memories of artisanal workmanship. The light box ceiling subtly delineates the circulation space, guiding visitors to the ordering counter with ease.
The dining room exudes a comfortable ambiance, with painted warm white tongue and groove boards elegantly adorning the walls and ceiling. This tasteful addition blends rustic elements with a touch of sophistication, striking a balance between tradition and contemporary aesthetics. A series of photos of some NYC classic pizzeria’s cover the walls including Di Fara, Paulie Gee’s, and Best Pizza. At the heart of the space, a large farmhouse table beckons groups to gather and share in a convivial atmosphere.
Pendant lights by Marset expertly illuminate the fixed dining tables, creating a warm and intimate setting. A well-curated wall of shelves proudly showcases gourmet goods, branded merchandise, and pizza-related delights. This thoughtful feature activates the circulation area, captivating guests with a visual feast of enticing offerings as they make their way to the counter.
Originally consisting of two separate commercial units, the wide space now accommodates two busy pizza lines in the kitchen, designed to meet the high demand. Outside, the façade underwent a notable transformation, featuring light brick, wooden windows, and a gracefullycurving blue ceramic tile.
This contemporary interpretation of a New York pizza parlor captures the essence of both heritage and modernity. With meticulous attention to detail and a balanced design approach, it offers an immersive experience where patrons can indulge in the delights of exceptional pizza while appreciating the space’s timeless charm.

Au nord de Toronto, dans le quartier de York, North of Brooklyn a récemment ouvert sa septième adresse sur Avenue Road. Le design est une réinterprétation contemporaine d’un classique parlement de pizza new-yorkais. Équilibrant la nostalgie et la modernité, l’intérieur capture l’essence du passé tout en embrassant les sensibilités de design actuelles.
Dès l’entrée, les invités sont accueillis par une mosaïque personnalisée ornant le sol, habilement conçue pour évoquer le travail artisanal d’antan. Le plafond lumineux délimite subtilement l’espace de circulation, guidant les visiteurs vers le comptoir de commande avec aisance.
La salle à manger dégage une ambiance confortable, avec du lambris peintes en blanc chaud élégamment apposées sur les murs et le plafond. Cette addition de bon goût mêle des éléments rustiques à une touche de sophistication, établissant un équilibre entre tradition et esthétique contemporaine. Une série de photos des classiques pizzeria new-yorkais, tels que Di Fara, Paulie Gee’s et Best Pizza, ornent les murs.
Au cœur de l’espace, une grande table de ferme invite les groupes à se rassembler et à partager une atmosphère conviviale. Les suspensions lumineuses de Marset illuminent avec expertise les tables fixes, créant un cadre chaleureux et intime. Un mur soigneusement aménagé d’étagères met fièrement en valeur des produits gastronomiques, des articles de marque et des délices liés à la pizza. Cette caractéristique réfléchie anime la zone de circulation, captivant les invités avec un festin visuel d’offres alléchantes tandis qu’ils se dirigent vers le comptoir.
À l’origine constitué de deux unités commerciales distinctes, cet espace large et spacieux abrite désormais deux lignes de préparation de pizzas dans la cuisine, conçues pour répondre à la demande élevée. À l’extérieur, la façade a subi une transformation notable, avec des briques pale, des fenêtres en bois et un carrelage en céramique bleu courbé avec élégance.
Cette interprétation contemporaine d’un pizzeria new-yorkais capture l’essence du patrimoine et de la modernité. Avec une attention méticuleuse aux détails et une approche de design équilibrée, elle offre une expérience immersive où les clients peuvent se délecter des délices d’une pizza exceptionnelle tout en appréciant le charme intemporel de l’espace.
