The plan for the garage and office building for the state government of Upper Austria resulted from a limited open design competition in 2002 in which Caramel took first place
The current project is based on the 1999 competition. At that point the brief represented an urban design vision for the gradual renovation of the museum complex with its various buildings exhibiting the different means of transport, as well as a new building for the Road Transport Hall.
Due to its specific conditions, the site for the competition claims an optimistic intervention able to qualify the surrounding public spaces and buildings with a representative -civic- condition, strong enough not to be overwhelmed by the presence of the four high-rise towers.
On a vast urban plan, MUSAC León building, north west Spain – design by Mansilla + Tuñón Arquitectos, draws the scenario for art with the same optimistic attitude used by the Roman surveyors to sketch their cities in the landscape.
