South London architecture: key contemporary buildings in the British Capital – built environment updates – South London buildings, architecture news, best new property design
Design: Park Associati. A new building on a site with strong potential for its strategic position in terms of access routes and its proximity to new districts under development (Citylife, Portello).
Design: Eureka. The design started off by understanding the subtle differentiation between outside and inside, as well as the basic forms of square and circles in traditional Chinese architecture.
Design: Zaha Hadid Architects. 7 residential towers, 12 semi-detached villas and integrated landscaping with recreation facilities. The towers’ petal-shaped layouts taper inwards near the ground to optimize public space.
Design: Gordon Bunschaft of Skidmore Owings Merrill, Architects. This Manhattan skyscraper is also known as the Solow Building: 49 storeys, 672 ft high. The concave vertical slope was designed to help bring light to the street, rather than using the traditional setbacks.
Escobedo Solíz Studio. The architects describe this year’s construction as “neither an object nor a sculpture standing in the courtyard, but a series of simple, powerful actions that generate new and different atmospheres.”
Design: Populous + Ateliers 2/3/4/. This 82,000-capacity venue is at the heart of plans for a new era in French rugby. The ground will be much more than a stadium, with a leisure development programme, shops, businesses and housing.
Design: DCA Architects. The brief was to use the largest area in the centre of Khan Market in NCR, and design a place for the community amidst an existing structure, where a lot of people can meet and come together.
Design: Divercity & Mplusm. How could one revive vernacular architecture in such an exceptional setting as Imerovigli, Santorini, with its view of the Caldera, opposite the Skaros rock?
Design: Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter
The vision of a world-class tourist attraction in Ilulissat has come one step closer to realization with the selection of Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter’s proposal for an Icefjord Centre.
Design: Zaha Hadid Architects. The project is located at the intersection of several important urban axes. The dynamism of the surrounding urban fabric was the subject of our formal investigations and inspired the geometry of the tower, podium and the residential buildings.
Design: AAMER Architects. “Owner’s dream was to live surrounded by water features, court yards, gardens and pavilions. While the two grown – up children wanted privacy and separate access to their accommodations to be independent from their parents”.
Design: ARCHITECTS OF INVENTION. The Coral Hotel project includes advanced infrastructure: spa-complex, several restaurants and a club-house with a pool and a private marina. Project site has a direct access to the beach.
