The Curtain Shoreditch Hotel, East London

New high-profile restaurant, hotel and members club designed by architects Dexter Moren Associate for Hotelier Michael Achenbaum. The red brick building reflects the architectural heritage and industrial history of Shoreditch. Large-framed Crittall Windows give the building a strong rational identity.

Designed by Martha Franco Architecture & Design with Roker Construction this is the Quebec head office for a Montreal media outlet. Located in a former printing workshop in Griffintown, a former industrial neighbourhood, the interior uses exposed brickwork, conduit and solid timber beams.

Henning Larsen Foundation Architecture & Music Competition winners in 2017

The winner is Cristian Vogel, a Chilean who now lives in Copenhagen. His composition “The Bell Tower Seed” won out of 145 entries from composers in 21 countries. Second prize goes to Jakob Draminsky Højmark from Copenhagen. Third prize is awarded to Henrik José, born in Sweden but living in Berlin.

A restrained building, beautifully reflected in an expansive pool. An old pine tree has been saved by architects Continuation Studio to command the courtyard, The project opens up through expansive glazing to the surrounding dense woodland and hills.

An office interior brought to life by an unusual curving stair clad in bamboo. The design by architects Cun-Design eschews “reinforced concrete and the string light mirror glass”. Instead bamboo elements bring nature into the space, offsetting the standard metal office furniture.
