Following the success of their first stationary boutique, the Baltic Club owners opened a second location in Montreal, this time on Mount-Royal Avenue in the Plateau borough.

Despite its great location in the heart of the city, the selected space has one important constraint: its narrow width of 9’6” made it quite a challenge for dynamic circulation and product display. The objective was to design a functional space that truly portrayed the playful world found in the company’s varied products.
To begin, the space was brought back to its initial state: the laminate floors were stripped down to the original hardwood underneath, typically found in the buildings of the area. The furnishings have then been designed as being truly integrated into the architecture. The various displays are all arranged organically in the space to help guide the wandering customers while simultaneously creating a unique environment for each type of product sold.
The curvy shapes and unusual proportions of the decor are a materialization of Baltic Clubs whimsical illustrations. The color chart consists of three shades of peach, together enveloping the entire room and providing an overall warmth and hospitality to the shop. Finally, the window display acts as an extension of the store projecting itself onto the street, attracting passersby and proudly affirming its presence on the Avenue.

Suite au succès grandissant de leur première boutique, l’équipe du Baltic Club souhaitait ouvrir une deuxième papeterie, cette fois-ci sur l’avenue Mont-Royal dans l’arrondissement du Plateau.
Previous space – blank canvas:
L’espace choisi demandait à être soigneusement réfléchi puisque sa largeur de 9’-6’’ présentait un défi au niveau des circulations et de la présentation des produits. L’objectif était donc de concevoir un espace fonctionnel tout en matérialisant l’univers ludique des illustrations de Baltic Club.
Le local a d’abord été remis à son état d’origine; les planchers ont été dégarnis pour retrouver le plancher de lattes de bois initial, typique du Plateau-Mont-Royal. Le mobilier a ensuite été conçu de manière à faire partie intégrante du local. Parfois en retrait, parfois en saillie, les présentoirs se déploient organiquement dans l’espace pour orienter la déambulation et créer des zones bien définies selon la thématique des produits.
Les ondulations et les proportions inhabituelles des éléments renforcent l’univers inusité propre à Baltic Club. La charte chromatique, en déclinaison de trois tons de pêche, vient englober l’espace et amène chaleur et convivialité à l’endroit. Enfin, la vitrine est une extension de la boutique se projetant vers l’extérieur afin d’attirer les passants et d’affirmer sa présence sur rue.
