Global architects, Woods Bagot, has revealed images of the opulent, Melbourne’s, Silk Road – a venue designed to bring to life a luxurious vision. The brief was to create the jewel in the crown in Zampelis’s Portfolio of hospitality establishments. Located in a heritage listed building, Silk Road’s interior unfolds beyond the understated façade.

Catering to 950 patrons, the main bar is central to the ground floor, overseen by a statue of Marco Polo. The bar counters are original, retained from the magnificent existing heritage listed banking chamber, clad in limestone and marble, they glow in the reflection of the grand chandeliers above.

The ground floor contains two additional bars, the St George Wine Room and the Dynasty Bar. The two tier steel structure creates the upper ground level and above the mezzanine level, containing the kitchen, tepanyaki bar, tapas bar, gold bar and the deco bar, each offering the patrons a different and unique design experiences.

The mezzanine also known as the Shahanshah Lounge meaning ‘king of kings’ also provides a vantage point for voyeurs to survey the gathering below and exclusive access to the 2nd level caviar bar, a lavish interior space, which overlooks the entire venue.
