First new building opens at £1.3bn Olympia redevelopment
12th of February 2024 – Olympia, one of Europe’s largest regeneration projects currently under development by Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance International, marks the topping out of Emberton House, one of the landmark buildings within the £1.3bn transformation scheme.
Situated to the North of the site, Emberton House spans 60,000 sq ft of performing arts and educational space, the future home of Wetherby Arts School, and the 204-room Hyatt Regency Hotel. To celebrate this significant construction milestone, contractors Laing O’Rourke and the Olympia project team gathered on top of the building to mark the completion of the concrete frame.
Previously a private car park, the design transformation of Emberton House into a seven storey multi-use building has been led by London-based architecture studio SPPARC. Additional support for the fit out of the School and Hotel, has been delivered by HLM Architects and EPR.

Following the Topping Out stage, the site team will now progress with the facade and internal fit out with completion on track for Q4 2024.

The reuse of an early car park that is able to integrate and contribute into the wider Olympia vision has been a rewarding challenge and we’re delighted that the community will soon benefit from the new theatre and educational facilities.
Once completed, the delivery of the Estate wide Olympia masterplan will unite a rich tapestry of buildings under one coherent vision characterised by the ambition of the listed exhibition halls that were constructed with innovation and creativity at their centre. With this milestone at Emberton House, we’re one step closer to opening a new landmark for Londoners.”
Olympia will open its doors to the public in Summer 2025.

Developed by Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance International, the rejuvenation of Olympia is on its journey to become London’s newest cultural landmark. Designed by Heatherwick Studio and SPPARC, the rejuvenation of the iconic exhibition halls includes a 4,400 capacity live music venue managed by AEG Presents; the largest new permanent theatre in 40 years managed by Trafalgar Entertainment; a new Wetherby performing arts school, in partnership with The BRIT School, a Hyatt Regency and citizenM hotel, 20+ restaurants and bars, 550,000 sq ft of offices, and 2.5 acres of curated public realm.
