New Skybar Completed Dexter Moren Associates’ Elegant Aldgate Hotel
With stunning views of some of London’s most iconic buildings, the Jin Bo Law skybar opened on 6 April at Dorsett City London in Aldgate.
Having won planning permission for the stunning 14th floor roof extension in 2017, Dexter Moren Associates (DMA) was delighted to see the Jin Bo Law skybar complete Dorsett Hospitality International’s c£36 million, new build four star hotel.
Bar seating:
DMA delivered Dorsett City London, sited beside the Grade 1 listed church of St Botolph without Aldgate, in July 2017, making it Dorsett Hospitality International’s second hotel in the UK, following on from the highly successful Dorsett Shepherds Bush.
Using the original McBains Cooper design, DMA replanned the hotel’s interior layout obtaining a Section73 consent in 2016. DMA went on to achieve planning permission for the spectacular roof bar extension whilst delivering the hotel on site. The scheme retained guest facilities including fitness suite, executive lounge and meeting rooms, and reduced the number of keys from 275 to 267. A second restaurant was added along with the dazzling roof top Jin Bo Law Skybar, which offers an intriguing selection of Asian inspired cocktails along with the amazing views across the city.
Roof terrace:
Using their understanding of hotel servicing and management, DMA’s architects helped realise the outstanding front-of-house service required in a hotel of Dorsett City’s quality and size. The plan implemented workable and well-designed back-of-house solutions, such as relocating the refuse store from the basement to ground level, introducing a full building height service lift, considering administration and staff areas and helping coordinate staff circulation. The DMA team also considered public access and relocated all front-of-house services between the ground and first floors for ease of access and servicing.

The 13-storey, 267 key Dorsett City London Aldgate boasts contemporary architecture and design, alongside two restaurants, 24 hour gym, four meeting rooms and a newly opened destination rooftop terrace bar with a panoramic view of London’s most iconic skyline.
