LHG (London Hotel Group) is celebrating another successful planning application with a win for an enhanced scheme for its aparthotel in Elm Road, Wembley.

LHG’s new hotel, designed with award-winning hotel architects Dexter Moren Associates, will offer 226 suite-style guest hotel rooms, including 24 accessible guest rooms. This represents an increase of 98 rooms, compared to the original scheme, which was consented in 2017.

The approved aparthotel redevelopment blends with its context by using a sympathetic palette of materials and a simple and regular window layout. Red and white brickwork with light stone or concrete details complement the surrounding existing buildings.

Without increasing the previously consented building height, appearance or basement depth, LHG’s enhanced design better responds to the Borough’s identified need for more visitor accommodation. LHG’s new hotel – which has more than double the capacity of the current building – will help meet that need plus boosting the local economy and contributing to the overall regeneration of Wembley Central.

In particular, the project is expected to bring an additional c£1.04 million pa spend to businesses within the town centre and create approximately 75 London Living Wage full and part-time jobs in the local area. This represents an additional c£450K of local investment and 32 additional jobs compared to the previously consented aparthotel.

Meher Nawab, CEO, LHG: “This new, enhanced c£40 million aparthotel will not only bring more jobs to the area and boost the local economy, but its modern design and contemporary aesthetic will make it more appealing to demanding business and leisure travellers, today and in the future.”
The new Hotel is expected to open as early as 2021.

Planners green-light proposals to transform a faded hotel in Elm Road with a new lease of life.

Brent Council has given planning permission to LHG (London Hotel Group), with the new hotel being designed by award-winning hotel architects Dexter Moren Associates.

A 61-room hotel currently occupies the site on the corner of Elm Road and St John’s Road. But the existing building at 1-11 Elm Road requires modernisation, does not fulfil its potential, and could better support the local economy and demand for accommodation in the area.

The borough has identified a need for more visitor accommodation and LHG’s new hotel – which doubles the capacity of the current building, and has ten per cent of guestrooms universally accessible – will help meet that need plus contributing to the overall regeneration of Wembley Central.

Dexter Moren Associates previously worked with LHG on the newly-completed Best Western Plus Wembley and the Elm Road proposal reflects LHG’s real engagement with the area, designing the Aparthotel to fit Wembley’s ambitious town centre regeneration, and to be part of the neighbourhood.

Christian Desira, London Hotel Group
“There’s an incredible energy in Wembley, a creative surge to modernise, to connect and welcome the world. We’re proud to be part of that and our proposal was developed with help from Brent Council’s planning team and from the community of residents and local businesses. Their feedback on the plans through our public consultation was invaluable and shaped the final application which has been approved.”
