Wilts & Dorset Poole Bus Station

POOLE BUS STATION
WHO ON EARTH IS MURAL – BY PENSON

29th of May 2009 – PENSON has completed another exciting project, in the form of Wilts & Dorset Poole Bus Station with a gigantic bespoke mural, lighting and general refurbishments.

Being appointed by the consortium formed with Wilts & Dorset Borough of Poole, Go South Coast and Grosvenor Estates, PENSON were asked to solve a long standing problem of developing solutions to create impact with a minimal and strict budget. All of course, under the gaze of local public opinions and the scrutiny of local businesses.

Chris Harris, Public Relations Manager, Go South Coast comments:
“The project has gone exceptionally well – Penson’s done a very good job. We are delighted with what they have done. The temporary bus station has worked very well, with no disruption or delays caused to anyone’s journeys”

The building which includes a shopping centre with an outdoor covered walkway with entrance to shops and bus departure points is 40 years old. By the 21st Century the building was showing its age.

PENSON instantly developed the concept of inverting the bus station with the UK’s largest mural which is based upon views of various local activities which are taking place above the bus station’s canopy, as if the canopy was a large section of glass.

Up close, the mural developed in house by PENSON is hard to soak in, which brings an ongoing intrigue for passers by. As you move around beneath the mural, you see different shapes, textures & patterns emerging & forming large elements.
