Rio de Janeiro – Introduction
Rio de Janeiro is located in the south east of the country. It is the second largest city in Brazil (after São Paulo) with around 6.3 million people. It is popularly known as Rio. The city is the capital city of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city of Brazil, and the third largest metropolitan area and agglomeration in South America.

Celebrated Brazilian buildings include Cidade da Musica Roberto Marinho and the Maracanã Stadium. There are many buildings by one of Brazil’s most celebrated architects, Oscar Niemeyer: the Ministry of Education building by Oscar Niemeyer with architect Le Corbusier, Camargo House and Leonel Miranda House. All these buildings can be visited on our Rio de Janeiro Architecture Tours with discretion – private homes cannot be accessed without specific agreements.

Rio de Janeiro Architecture Walking Tours
Rio de Janeiro Architectural Tours can focus on traditional buildings, contemporary buildings or both. The Rio de Janeiro Architecture Tour can be an introduction to the city’s main buildings or can be tailored to your group’s interests.
Walking Tours of Rio de Janeiro can involve advice (for an agreed fee) ahead of trips about types and areas of Brazilian buildings.
We are more than happy to accommodate your needs and interests on our Brazilian Architecture Tours.
We can provide information on programme, geographical areas and building types up to a year ahead of your Brazilian architectural tour. For example a group of architects interested in innovative Rio de Janeiro office buildings could be provided with tailored information allowing a tour programme to be agreed prior to their visit to Brazil.
Visitors can be met from the airport, their accommodation, or at the starting point of their architecture walking tour in Brasil.
