Before Planning a Thailand Trip Get Familiar with the High and Low Season
Visiting Thailand during the high tourist season can be quite expensive. The reason travelers desire to come at this time, is because the weather is simply marvelous. The warm sunshine and the open-air attractions of Thailand are something that anyone cannot resist.
Some islands get shut down in the monsoons, but they start opening at tail end of the wet season. The Andaman Sea looks bluer and offers great visibility for diving and snorkeling.

Thailand Trip Advice
In Thailand –
- High tourist season – November to March
- Shoulder season – April to June
- Low season – July to October
In the shoulder and low seasons, traveling to Thailand can be inexpensive, as the prices for hotels and domestic travel is comparatively cheaper.
As it is the rainy season, you can see the countryside, lush and beautiful. Vacation can be calming and laid-back, because the attractions and beaches are less crowded.
When to visit Thailand depends on individual priorities. If you expect perfect weather and don’t mind the expense, then the peak season can be awesome to enjoy the sunny sky and beaches. If you are a nature lover, then you will love to spend your trip quietly lying on the beaches in the low seasons.
BookAway is an excellent portal to buy sea and ground transportation tickets online. Book your Thailand bus, ferry, and train ticket online for any season you desire to travel. BookAway support team can help you with your planning and booking of sea and ground tickets.
Festivals in the high season
Besides Christmas, New Year, and the Chinese New Year, several other festivals of Thailand also draw huge crowds.
Loi Krathong – A fall festival, which is a visually mesmerizing celebration and can be a magical experience for every traveler. It is a combo-festival (Loi Krathong and Yi Peng), where candle-lit floats are released on the rivers and thousands of lanterns lit by candles float in the sky. This is a three day festival in Thailand.
Songkran – Thailand’s water festival starts from Thai’s New Year and is an annual celebration. You will see the wildest water fight, so make sure to give your mobile phone and wallet some good protection.
It is a tradition to sprinkle water on the locals and travelers as a blessing (wash away bad thoughts). Even water hoses are used to spread blessings. The three days festival is a cool chaotic mess, because in April, the temperature is at its highest.
Wonderfruit festival – It is a big music and art festival hosted in December in the suburbs of Pattaya. It is a celebration of creative energy, where travelers get a preview of a new living style.
Festivals in the low season
In the low season, the locals are busy with other festivals like –
- Buddhist Lent
- Wet rice cultivation cycle
- Boat racing
- Fascinating cultural events
