ITALIAN DESIGN TRENDS FOR 2020

‘Made in Italy’ is a slogan that recalls the image of high-quality Italian products. Anything Italian made is exquisite and without a doubt, the best in the world be it sofas, beds, tables, office furniture, home décor to Italian designer lighting.

Italy is renowned for its art and history dating back to the days of Renaissance. Then, the country was divided into dozens of small cities with the local aristocrats spending tons of money and time on everything culture and design. Over the centuries, Italy has still managed to maintain the same level of craftsmanship and elegance in the design and manufacture of a variety of products.

Italian Design Trends For 2020 Guide

Family is everything to Italians and taking care of one’s home is a top agenda. A home is believed to be a sacred place where the whole family can congregate therefore, owning a home is a priority. Unlike other nationalities, Italians are never in a hurry to move out of their family homes.

You will often see multiple generations living all together in the same house. The design and furnishing are well thought out to meet every family member’s needs. Italians are known to invest in impeccable design and quality aesthetics. Room is often given for future additions in many homes in case of new creations and innovations of the future.

Below are some of the latest trends in Italian designs when it comes to an Italian home;

  • LIGHTING

Lighting is an important aspect in a home because it improves the mood and creates a warm ambiance to otherwise gloomy and unattractive spaces. Poor lighting makes an area look dull and cramped. A healthy amount of sunlight plays a huge part in creating a relaxed home. However, sunlight will not be able to reach all the corners of a house. The best italian designer lighting is definitely one of the main trends of 2020. The lighting design  incorporates shapes inspired by geometry in the way lamps fixtures are manufactured to easily adapt and blend with the general space. Popular brands have also incorporated wireless technology to amp the previous designs. These have made homes feel more modern, require less cabling and are aesthetically pleasing.

  • FURNITURE

It takes the right kind of furniture to transform any room. Whether you opt for simple or unique sophisticated furniture, the design is the baseline. One particular design trend is sculptural shaped furniture. Bold and masculine shaped furniture is in style and many homes will spot bold objects with organic shapes such as oblong table designs and L shaped and corner sofas. These pieces are not only eye-catching but are a statement piece to show off in a home. The focus on the latest designs is focused on eco-friendliness and waste reduction.

  • ACCESSORIES

Italian homes are made of different styles. While most like modern settings, others will go for a simple minimalistic style. Home accessories such as curtains, cushions, wall crafts, centerpieces can change the whole dynamic of a room and can give a home the decor update that it needs.

These accessories are made with an emphasis on quality and craftsmanship to make sure the products are never out of style. The materials used on the products are authentic and sourced from the best.

For instance, throw pillows are made with very tactile finishes and soft materials such as velvet to add a touch of opulence to a home. Natural leather is commonly used in home accessories to add a warm and rich feeling to the designs. Glass is also a great material that adds frost and 3D finishes to wall decor.
