However, as the technology develops day by day it is easy to turn your home into a theater. The experience is pretty much like you are watching a movie at the cinema, but it’s much more convenient.
The home theater speaker systems and projectors make this possible.
Watching a movie in your home theater system is way better than watching it on a TV. However, it can be a bit tricky to choose the best home theater if you don’t how they work. So, let’ take a look at the functioning of every component.
How Does Home Theater Work?
The main idea of a home theater is to get a clear picture an amazing surround sound. This can be easily achieved with the combination of several electronic components which at the end give you a genuine theater experience.
Speaking of the electronic devices you need to build a home theater system the main are: speakers, a TV or a projector, media devices and a receiver. These devices work in a different manner, but when they work together they give you a high quality picture and superb audio experience.
Now let’s take a look at how do these components work.
TV or a Projector
These are used to display images and videos but it can be a bit challenging to select the right TV or projector for your home theater.
The TV is something we are already used to and it’s pretty easy to install it. When you are thinking of buying the best TV for your home theater system you have to pay attention to the size and resolution. However, for a home theater system it is recommended to choose a 720p , 1080p or 4K Ultra HD TV.
Projectors on the other hand a bit more difficult to install and you have to get used to them. When compared to TV a good video projector will perform way much better. However, pay attention to your room size because in order to get the most of your projector it has to be 12 to 15 feet away from the wall.
In order to get the absolute best picture from your projector you need to pair it with a home cinema projection screen. With the right screen your image will appear brighter and the colors more accurate.
Receiver
The receiver is another important part of the home theater because the speakers and the media devices are connected to it. It basically plays a role of a link to all the devices in the system. There are numerous input and output ports on it. This is important because you can connect several media devices to it and then send the signal to the speakers and the TV or projector.
Media devices
A media device is used to deliver audio and video signal. You can use your computer as a media device, then your game console, DVD/Blu-ray player, streaming media device like Roku, Fire TV and soon. They represent a vital part of the home theater setup because there is no use to build a home theater and stare to a blank screen, right?
Surround Sound Speakers
When we speak about speakers, we have to mention that there are different speaker setups but the one we would like to have in our home theater system is the surround sound setup. It will provide the nearest experience to the actual theater.
A surround sound setup uses several different speakers positioned strategically around the room to provide the effect of surround sound. Different types of speakers can be found in such setups – in-wall, ceiling, bookshelf and floor standing speakers. Ideally, all these speakers should be positioned towards the listener. One of the most popular surround sound speaker system today is the 5.1 system. But what does 5.1 actually mean?
Speaking about the numbers, the number 5 represents the number of speakers (1 center speaker, 2 front speakers and 2 rear speakers). You can combine the position of the speakers according to the shape of your room and space available.
Of course, you can also invest in some additional components to improve the function and visual performance of your home theater but it greatly depends on your budget. For now, we have covered only the essential components needed to create a home theater.
Final Words
As you can see these are the four main elements of the home theater system. It simply won’t work as it should without any of them, or to be more precise it won’t work at all. But when combined together, all these elements can give you hours and hours of cinema-like experience.
