Architectural Projects of the Future

Scientists from the University of Westminster prepared The SmartThings Future Living Report, in which they talked about our future based on modern data.

Multi-storey buildings not only up, but also down

Scientists are sure that by 2100 scientific progress will help conquer the underwater world, where we will live in huge bubbles. Office buildings, parks for recreation, kindergartens and schools will also be built there. Other interesting entertainment you can find on the 22Bet website.

Underground eco-buildings

Due to the lack of space on earth, earthen structures in the form of entire cities will be built into the ground. Today there are already developments of such houses. These small eco-buildings blend into the landscape and leave minimal footprints on the environment.

Mobile homes

Cities are becoming more and more crowded, so architects and engineers are coming up with houses that should be easy to assemble and move to a new place, while they need to be autonomous.

It is likely that the mobile homes of the future will be made of aluminum to be strong and light enough to move. Such houses can also be used in business, as an office, a mobile store, a studio, an exhibition space or just a space.

There are already designs for similar homes, with skylights to maximize light and sliding doors to let in fresh air.

This completely self-contained eco-capsule, a mini-house created by the Belgian firm Skilpod, is equipped with solar panels and ventilation systems for heat recovery to reduce energy losses to zero.

Prefabricated houses

Similar concepts already exist. Such buildings can be easily and quickly assembled from individual parts that are delivered from the factory. Separate parts of the structure are combined into apartments. The protruding blocks provide shade on hot days.

Green projects

Hoping to mitigate the damage to nature, architects are experimenting with “green” materials and creating fantastic designs for the homes of the future.

British architect Maria Vergopolow has unveiled a design for micro-houses called Cocoon BioFlos that people can grow on their own. They will be made from fine fibers of bioplastic made from sunflowers, potatoes and apples. The internal layout of each such house will be adjusted to the needs of residents, and the buildings themselves will be able to adapt to all climatic zones.

Ephemeral architecture

Speaking in general about the appearance and architecture of buildings of the future, future technologies will make walls and ceilings thinner, so the architecture will be light and ephemeral, seeming fragile.

Scientists suggest that in 50 years the facade of the building can become changing: if you want, you “turned on” the window, if you want, masonry. By the way, glass with variable transparency has already been created: it can transmit light, or it can imitate a blank wall. Therefore, there are prerequisites for the visualization of architecture.

Space optimization and super-tech houses

As experts suggest, in general, architecture in half a century will pay less attention to the external form, the “picture”, but will become “smarter” in the technical and aesthetic sense.

Over the next 50 years, humanity should come to the maximum degree of optimization of urban, working, leisure and personal space of a person.

An increasing proportion of people have the opportunity to work remotely without wasting time moving around. Therefore, industrial and communal areas will gradually disappear. City industry will become more compact and environmentally friendly. As a result, most of the spaces will become multifunctional, transport facilities and recreational, public spaces and residential buildings will become jobs.

A necessary attribute of comfortable housing will be an individual workplace with an effective connection to telecommunication systems.

For the same reasons, the living space of the future will have a pronounced recreational and sports area.

At the same time, kitchens are likely to disappear from the houses. Cooking will move into the public sphere due to the increase in the number of single people.

Changes in the technological equipment of houses will be cardinal. Due to the need to save resources, houses will be stuffed with all sorts of systems and become truly “smart”. They will be able to adjust themselves depending on the weather, time of day and other external factors.

Scientists admit that houses will turn from consumers of energy resources into suppliers. For example, the efficiency of water consumption can increase several times due to the recycling cycle. Also, our houses will play the role of a protective filter against the harmful effects of the environment.

They will be equipped with filters for air, water and, perhaps, even systems for maintaining the necessary balance of atmospheric pressure.

Ownership

Urbanists and architects believe that in the future people will become more comfortable with their housing and in 50 years will prefer to rent property. The “turnover” of housing will fundamentally increase, and people will have the opportunity to quickly change their homes, based on changes in life circumstances.

But private houses will become a luxury that only a few can afford: having your own house will become the privilege of rich people.

Flying house

Mobile homes can be of different types: mobile homes, houseboats, and eventually flying…

The creators of the Wolke 7 flying house concept have already proposed a very stylish and modern airship with original balloon shapes that resemble two flying whales harnessed to a team. The living area of the flying house has an open observation deck and an open upper floor, while the lower cabin has only small windows and can be used as a bedroom, as it has enough privacy.

Let the speed of such a house be no more than 100 kilometers per hour, but the house does not need high speed, even with a low speed you can always be where you want. For example, lovers of spring can meet her twice a year in the northern and southern hemispheres, and if you want to live where it is always summer, but not in the tropics, you can always fly to where it is summer. The three main things that will determine your place of residence will be your desire, the weather forecast and the atlas of the world.
