Design: BIG, architects. One of the most interesting new buildings in Denmark, a fascinating project in a key Danish cultural site. Leaving the historic dock walls untouched, the architects have placed the galleries below ground in a continuous loop around the dry dock walls – making the dock the centerpiece of the exhibition.
Design: Freelon Adjaye Bond/SmithGroup, architects – The NMAAHC building opened on September 24. Architect David Adjaye establishes a “strong conceptual resonance with America’s deep and longstanding African heritage”.

Design: Ateliers Jean Nouvel, Architects. Pattern is an important element of Middle Eastern architecture, in this building the French architects have designed a double dome 590 ft (180 m) in diameter, with randomly-perforated woven material, creating speckled shadows
With the Centre d’Art Diane Dufresne, ACDF Architecture has created a new arts centre for the suburban municipality of Repentigny, providing a dynamic core where residents can take in stirring arts and culture without getting on the highway to nearby Montreal.
Design: KANVA in collaboration with NEUF architect(e)s. The Biodome, originally built as a velodrome for the 1976 Olympic Games, and converted into a natural science museum in 1992, launched an international competition in 2014 to revitalize its visitors’ experiences as part of a city-wide renewal plan to celebrate Montreal’s 375th birthday.

Design: Sohne & Partner Architects. The focus of the Cafe is set in the center of the dome hall. To emphasize the outstanding center of the place and its characteristic setting, the whole design is oriented on the centerpiece.

George Lucas abandons plans to build his Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Chicago. It may move to Treasure Island in San Francisco, California. SF city and museum representatives are in early discussions about a site on Treasure Island. The Chicago design was by Ma Yansong of Chinese architecture studio MAD Architects.
