A pioneering classical house designed by Robert Adam has just been granted planning permission by West Oxfordshire District Council. It replaces the modernist scheme which was given permission in 2004 under the old country house policy known as “Gummer’s Law”.
The terrain is taken by a lane of araucarias that extends to the neighbors terrains, dissolving the strict character of the urban plot. A couple of philosophers with two children included in the program a library that should have independence and at the same time proximity to others uses.

Hof is a country residence in the Skakafjördur fjord, less than 100km from the Arctic Circle. The spectacle of the location, its remoteness and special program fuelled a unique rapport between the client, contractor and architect resulting in a building that is in every respect a direct consequence of that collaboration.
Originally conceived as a sculpture whose planes, structure and joints were articulated in primary colours, this idea changed to camouflage, using subtle autumn colours, and vertical landscape meshes between the garden and the house.
