New house in Westmount, a privileged inner-city suburb of Montreal, Lansdowne Avenue is remarkable for both its heritage architecture and its particular topography. The street negotiates a series of steep inclines and plateaus at the base of Westmount Mountain.
Design: Blouin Tardif Architecture Environnement. Tucked away in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal, on the private lot of a former commercial building, are these Siamese residences. Each co-property occupies half of the lot; their entrances are, respectively, on Mentana and Boyer streets.

The design of the residence had to meet three important challenges: architectural reconciliation of a Mexican inspiration in a Quebec context; exploration of a prototype house with predefined materials; and the objectives of LEED Canada certification.
Design: NatureHumaine. This project was completed for a developer/home builder at the intersection between Coleraine Street and a laneway in Montreal’s Point St-Charles neighborhood. The program for this project required 2 row-homes on an 8.7m wide lot.
Design: Menkès Shooner Dagenais Letourneux Architects / Provencher Roy Architects. This project, which spread over four years, responded to the challenge of simplifying the building’s indoor and outdoor circulations, improving the quality of the gambling, recreational and dining areas as well as providing a thematic unity to the different designs.
Design: Anik Péloquin, architect. The environment of this former stationmaster house has radically changed in recent decades. On the west side, the railways have given way to a big park with trees that have since matured. On the east side, there is now a suspended highway that cuts through the city.
This intervention transformed a residential two storey duplex in Rosemount into a single dwelling unit by completely reorganizing the interior and constructing a 430 sqft extension in the rear.
A large partly-covered deck runs along 3 sides of the house. It is an integral part of the house’s architecture and provides extra living space during summer.
Design: NatureHumaine. The client’s priority was to maximize the natural light in their new live/work house in Montreal’s Mile-Ex district. This was made challenging by the east-west orientation of the infill lot. However, our design fills even the core of the house with light.
Lajeunesse Residence. “We were hired by a young couple to do a complete renovation of a house built by the clients grandfather, now housing its third generation of the same family. They wanted to combine the two existing apartments into a single family house on two levels.”
For Montreal’s Cabaret Underworld, he was commissioned to create a new visual identity with a dual leitmotiv: Build a special link between the building’s inside and outside by designing signage leading to the entrance.
