Design: Steve Domoney Architecture. With a property located directly opposite the sandy shoreline of a secluded beach, the primary drive in designing a new home on this site is obviously to provide the strongest possible connection from within the house to the beach and sea beyond.
Design: Pleysier Perkins Architects. The house is set on a slope offering long views over treetops and an private backyard that leads to forgetting about its suburban context. The design is easily recognized by its dynamic roof shape, which cantilevers over terrace and pool, whilst being anchored by a double height chimney stack.
Design: Steffen Welsch Architects. In Connect Parkville we pursue the idea of “stitching together” urban fabric with “quiet architecture”, informed by Austrian architect Hermann Czech’s “architecture as background”.
Design: Merrylees Architecture and Quinn Architecture. Ridgeway House is a sculptural facelift of the early, weatherboard Victorian cottage. The plan grants for a series of vastly malleable spaces that provide the new requirements for all of; a blended family, visiting relatives, and a home office.
Architects: Bryant Alsop. Designed for a semi-retired couple and completed in December 2015, this three-bedroom house in Mount Martha provides a private sanctuary that engages with the surrounding trees and bay views.
Design: Merrylees Architecture. Outer Crescent House is situated in the Bayside suburb of Brighton, tucked behind the busy Bay St retail quarter. The property was an overlooked transition site measuring a mere 345 sqm, between a commercial warehouse, a lane to the rear of the Bay St shops.
Design: Nic Owen Architects. As the answer to the site, environment and client’s requirements the pod extension is a true expression of ‘form following function’. A modern structure is not limited with a period (Victorian) architectural language but is free to respond justly to the brief, site and restraints.
Design: The Buchan Group / CallisonRTKL, architects. The first stage of Chadstone’s $660 m redevelopment unveiled. A striking 7000 sqm grid shell roof presents a milestone in structural design innovation as it arches 30m over the atrium.
Design: Architecture Architecture. Drawing near to the doorway of Kite House, the visitor is welcomed by pockets of shade nestled among sheltering brick walls. A vast pivot window and a large pivot door throw themselves wide open, exposing the full throat of the house to the garden.
Architects: Poly Studio. White Delight House, in the Melbourne inner-city suburb of Prahran, consists of a new contemporary verandah inserted at the back of a Victorian weatherboard villa.
Design: Canny Architecture. Family home custom designed by CA Architecture in leafy suburb: this luxurious residence has 3 bedrooms with ensuite, a study, powder room, sitting room, basement cellar and generous alfresco area.
Design: LSA Architects. A residence with light-filled and spacious internal spaces, which maintain strong connections to the exterior of the building and the home’s multiple courtyards.
Dynamic interior, a new head office in Melbourne’s Docklands, design by HASSELL, architects. The new workplace was part of a major cultural change program for Australia’s largest health insurer to live its purpose to the core and create better health outcomes for its members, employees and the community.
Design: Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai, India. MPavilion 2016 will be 12m high, made of bamboo with a roof encased in earth representing the Australian landscape. Adorned by an elaborate tower similar to a ‘tazia’ used in Indian ceremonies.
