ICÔNE, a new 18,800 square-metre office complex filled with light and greenery, in Belval Luxembourg, designed by Foster + Partners has broken ground.

In this exuberant apartment building by Metaform architecture, art and architecture are found side by side. Graffiti by artist SUMO is integrated into the architectural design of the modish property.
Surrounded by disused blast furnaces and high-rise buildings the new Steelyard square forms the center of Belval Ouest. Seating areas and trees are grouped into islands in these former steel mill grounds.

The new building is interwoven around the existing house, inspired by the Japanese art of origami. It resembles a folded sheet of paper that answers to the program requirements, while creating a relation with the old and opening up to the natural surroundings.
