The pre-existing building for the new Lonate Ceppino Public Library already belonged to Lonate Ceppino’s historical heritage. On a rectangular plan, the two levelled buildings housed the Civic Library on the ground floor, while the first floor had been left unused.

The analytical approach to the complex system of access routes, pedestrian walkways and roads, the local climatic conditions, as well as a close attention to the building’s integration into the general master plan led to the development of a structure formed by two interconnected wings and adapted to contain light and greenery.
Bologna City Council commissioned a new 33,000 m2 office building to house their Municipal head offices. They needed to bring together 1,000 employees currently scattered in 21 locations throughout the city.

The Carboncini Company takes office in Lomazzo in 1948; in 1971 the new offices were built which were subsequently renovated in the early 1990s. In 2008, the need to expand the structure becomes an opportunity to describe the idea that underlies its nature.

The project envisages a close and direct relationship between the open space and the building that faces it: the main facade of the new building becomes the central element of the square and remains symmetrical with respect to the design of the central space.
Floor zero is the operating heart of the new Surgery Centre. This floor is 50 cm above Via Lungadige, so that it is completely secured against any danger flooding by the River Adige.
