In Wuzhen, 100km south-west of Shanghai in the midst of one of China’s oldest cultivated areas, this building is a rehabilitation clinic with the character of a hotel.

Design: Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects. The winning design organizes the entire plant, including auxiliary buildings, into one circular building – avoiding traditional rectangular layout of industrial facilities. The clear circular form minimises the footprint of the plant.

The building focuses on the concept of trinity of architecture, interior design and landscape. The architects take “float” as the core of the trinity concept, so the designs of architecture, interiors and landscape are all centered on it.
