Design: Hufft Projects. Steel-clad private residence that sits on eight acres of heavily wooded terrain. As an owner of a steel manufacturing facility, the homeowner wanted a residence to reflect his distinctive family business and his personal artistic background.
Design: Swatt | Miers Architects, USA. In addition to passive strategies, the house uses a hydronic system to provide both radiant space heating as well as hot water, and high efficiency cooling equipment provides air conditioning in the summer.
Design by Chad Oppenhiem Architect, USA. Also known as the Ark, this three-level, single-family residence is located on the Atlantic Ocean. The property features 9,000 sqft of interior space with 3,000 sqft of ocean-view terraces, a lap pool, pool cabana, a two-car garage and an elevator.
Design: Finne Architects, USA. This residence is a compact, 2400 sqft modern house located on a wooded waterfront property at the north end of the Hood Canal, a long, fjord-like arm of western Puget Sound.
Design: Balance Associates architects, USA. This 1,600 sqft building is built into a steep hillside overlooking a stream with a view to the mountains in the distance. The cabin is anchored into the hill with a concrete base that contains the garage and other utility spaces.
