Latvian Architecture – Design Contest
The architectural design competition for Hotel Liesma in Jurmala, Latvia, has now ended ; 107 works were received altogether.
Hotel `Liesma´ International Architectural Competition was an open international design ideas competition to find the best design solution for a music-themed upscale hotel in Jūrmala, Latvia. The city is located on the coast of the Baltic Sea and well known for its musical heritage. It was also stated in the competition brief that the hotel should express elements related to music in its design concept.
The site of the future 4-star music-themed hotel has significant spatial value in the context of the urban character of Jūrmala. The resort city stretches along the sandy beaches of the Gulf of Rīga. By the master plan the site is reserved for a landmark building and landmark building is surely needed there to improve the comprehensive logic of the urban fabric.
