A world-leading architectural practice demands a working environment that reflects not only the highest standards of aesthetics, but also of functionality. When Foster + Partners refurbished their practice interior in London, optimum efficiency and sustainability, together with sleek, tactile finishes were key to creating a workspace conducive to both enjoyment and productivity.

New desks and display tables were designed by Foster + Partners and the material specified to achieve the vision was DuPont™ Corian®, fabricated by Interior Surfaces. A total of 13 desks measuring 12m x 2.2m were skillfully created using just under 300 sheets of Corian® in the Glacier White colour.

The valuable qualities of Corian®, from its durability and reparability to its ability to be shaped, curved and seamlessly joined to monolithic effect, makes it an ideal choice for busy workstations.

Corian® offers many of the appropriate properties for this type of project, as not only can its ingenious versatility adapt to virtually any design requirement, but it also performs in application to the highest standards. Naturally strong, stain-resistant and easy to care for, Corian® requires no sealants or treatments and is easily cleaned and maintained.

However, should any accidental damage occur, the material can also be restored to full beauty, rather than be replaced or discarded. Corian® also offers proven reliability in function and has independent certification such as the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating System, ISO 14025 Green Choice, Ecospecifier, plus LGA hygiene certification as well as GreenGuard® confirmation for having no negative impact on indoor air quality.
