Leslie Martin studied at Manchester University School of Architecture, qualifying in 1930. in 1953 he succeeded Sir Robert Matthew as LCC Architect. He was appointed to the first Chair of Architecture at Cambridge in 1956, a position he held until his retirement in 1972.
