Moscow IFC Finalist

Design: KCAP Architects & Planners

Location: Moscow, Russia

A team around KCAP Architects&Planners is selected as one of three finalists in the competition for the International Financial Center (IFC) in Moscow.

International Financial Center Finalist 1

IFC is a 460 ha mixed-use development project located in Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and includes the construction of offices, housing and hotels, as well as commercial and social infrastructure.

‘What stands out in our proposal is the location of the core of IFC in and around the lake area. It is a stand-alone IFCity which will not only offer a competitive financial business environment but as well living standards comparable to leading cities such as London, New York and Singapore,’ says Ruurd Gietema, urban planner and partner of KCAP. The core of IFCity, nicknamed ‘The Financial Kremlin’, presents itself as a powerful urban ensemble along the landscape of Moskva River.

‘The core will be surrounded by a landscape park. Within the landscape park, the wider areas of IFC around the core will mature into a mosaic of quarters. Each with its own character, with lively public spaces and buildings with a mix of uses’, continues Ruurd Gietema.

International Financial Center Finalist 2

The competition was held in two stages over the course of eight months. In the next and final stage, the client will hold further negotiations with the finalists to discuss further participation in the implementation of the project. In total 8 international consortia competed at stage.

The complete team: KCAP Architects&Planners, Buro Happold, Karres en Brands landschapsarchitecten, de Architecten Cie., MLab, Fakton and Prosperity Project Management.
