A new private art gallery & apartment for Clerkenwell based gallerists, opened in 2006

The art gallery on Whitecross Street London EC1 is a conversion of two adjacent Georgian houses, and comprises a double-height basement gallery and rear courtyard with 2 flats above. The new facade received a Heritage and Economic Regeneration Scheme Grant from English Heritage administered by Islington Council.

The gallerist’s apartment has a private external courtyard at 1st floor that is contained within the section of the top-lit gallery space. The photographs shown in this post were taken by by Christian McDonald.

The total scheme occupies 615 square metres, including viewing rooms, office space, painting storage, staff facilities and a workshop. Spread over ground and lower ground floors, the public and private areas are linked by a solid oak staircase.
