With the coming Olympics and parallel sports facility improvements at Hackney Marshes both bridges are intended as very economic solutions to long running access problems. Amin Taha Architects were instructed to develop the designs to planning submission level.

Intended to help serve the new Stanton Williams Changing Rooms/Community Centre, football pitches, planned equestrian facilities and in the short-term the coming Olympic coach parking on East Marsh. Currently on hold following budget reviews within the borough. the more fluted /corrugated design is the final version as it adds more strength while reducing material and fabrication quantities / costs. The concrete support options aren’t very different in cost but some behave better than others under flood conditions.

The existing road bridge has been closed for a number of years following structural defects in the precast concrete structure. A new bridge will service the proposed Cricket and Rugby changing facilities and new pitches, relieving the New Community Centre. The proposal economically retains abutments, adds cycle and disabled access through the use of landscaping leaving Currently on site and due for completion within six months. The numbering suggests an ordering of images following design process chronology and erection sequence.
