Set on five picturesque acres with panoramic views of the Big Sur coastline, fifteen minutes to the Post Ranch Inn, Alila Ventana Resort, and the original Big Sur River Inn, and even closer to Pfeiffer Beach, this Modern retreat is a stylish alternative to the more rustic getaways of the Central Coast.

Designed and built by an entertainment industry couple, professional set builders and decorators for many years, this tranquil oasis is the handcrafted personal refuge for themselves, envisioned on the heels of their success creating the boutique hotel Verana outside Puerta Vallarta.

An open floor plan connects public and private spaces under a single rectangular roof plane, pitched up to enhance views of the ocean, with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors that blur the boundary between indoors and out, extending the living space out into the native landscape.

The kitchen and bathroom form the core of the home, joining public areas to private, with a large primary bedroom, and a sitting room that serves as a second bedroom. Outside, a separate stand-alone structure doubles as guest house or art studio.

Contemporary finishes throughout the house define a minimalist modern aesthetic: white walls accented by bookmatched walnut panels, dramatic custom cabinetry, European fixtures, hardwood floors, and a tile-clad wet room that protects all of the functions of the bathroom.

Throughout the day, sunlight traces the chaparral hills, the sea shifts from blue to silver, and fog drifts inland before dissolving into the ridgelines. At night, stars emerge with rare clarity, accompanied by ocean surf and wind. With nearby trails and preserved land, the site offers a rare blend of seclusion and access—ideal for architecture in quiet dialogue with its setting.
