The next Scottish Civic Trust annual conference will showcase and celebrate the work of local civic trusts, amenity societies and heritage volunteers. The Scottish Civic Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees to the Board – architects Fiona Sinclair and Ed Taylor.
Design: 2by4-architects. On an island of 5 by 100 meters in the Dutch lake area ‘Loosdrechtse Plas’ the architects designed a unique recreational house. The house is a subtle frame that captures the view from the inside out and outside in.
Design: BURO II & ARCHI+I. The new residential care centre offering around 100 beds replaces the existing, outdated St. Jozef facility in Woumen, a submunicipality of Diksmuide.
An Lanntair and The Western Isles Architects Group have been celebrating architecture in all its forms in the Outer Hebrides. From modern architecture to 17th Century ruins, the project asked people to take a look at the architecture that surrounds them.
A derelict sanatorium that featured on the BBC’s Restoration programme has been destroyed by what is being treated as a deliberate fire. Crews were called to the empty Glen O’Dee, built in Banchory in 1900, shortly before midnight.
Design: Saucier + Perrotte architectes with HCMA. The site consists of a 20,240 sqm parcel of land located at an important university entry point. The building was thus designed to act as a gateway, engaging the community with an open, transparent and inviting ground floor.
Design: Goettsch Partners, architects. A new 1,075,300-sqft tower featuring a 377-key Grand Hyatt hotel, 84 serviced apartments, three restaurants including a destination rooftop venue, multiple ballrooms and meeting facilities, a spa and fitness center, and parking for 225 cars.
Architects: Grimshaw. The Laboratory at Dulwich College is a state-of-the-art science building situated in the centre of the school’s historic campus in south London. The £14 million Grimshaw-designed scheme has officially been opened and is the first completed school project in the practice’s education portfolio.
Approval for the transformation of Broad Street into a ‘pedestrian priority’ route. This will see a number of streetscape improvements at the £107m office, hotel and retail development in Aberdeen city centre.
Design: BVN, Architects. The building is designed to provide a flexible space that facilitates connectivity and collaboration amongst the research community. The design reflects the idea of “seeing the science”, whereby the form of the building reflects the inner workings and functions.
Design: Weatherhead Architecture. The central piece of the Allarp master plan in the county of Halland: The roof is to become a haven for all sorts of insects and birds, reinstating the flower of Halland, the increasingly rare hårginsten flower
Design: AGi architects. This building is a heart disease specialized center. It includes testing and laboratory departments in ground floor, outpatient departments in first and second floor and there are also located inside of it a rehabilitation and a research center.
