How to Install an Electrical Switchboard?

An electrical switchboard is an electrical panel used as a power distribution of a certain building, giving directions to the electrical currents aka distributing it around the place. An electrical switchboard provides electricity to an appliance when the switch is on by redirecting electricity from the main power supply. Electrical switchboards are quite important since these help you to control the flow of electricity.

  1. Gather tools

Since you are not a professional electrician, you will be needing a lot of different kinds of tools such as wire cutter, electrical switchboard, copper wire, circuit breakers and screwdrivers. Always remember that if an electrical switchboard is not available in the market at the moment. You can always go to the switchboard manufacturer and purchase one from there.

  1. Preparation

The next step is to prepare. First, you need to measure the switchboard by using the copper wire. Then, peel off the insulation of said copper wire. Make sure you peel it off according to the measurement you took before.

After that, in order to add some strength to the copper wires, roll them around. It is essential to do because rolled copper wires will not separate so easily. Then, open the switch by unscrewing its screws using a screwdriver. After that, insert the phase-in, in the switchboard. After completing all these steps, using a screwdriver, tighten the screws of the switchboard.

  1. Connection to socket

The second main step of installing a switchboard is connecting it to the socket. Depending on the measurement of the phase-out switch, cut the copper wire insulation using wire cutters. Then, using a screwdriver, unscrew the screws of phase-out switch. Make sure that you roll the excess wire. It is important to do so because then it will be relatively easier to feed it through the socket. After completing all the steps, tighten the screws of the phase-out switch using a screwdriver.

  1. Connection to regulator

This is the last main step. First, measure the distance between the regulator and the phase-out switch. Trim the excess insulation of the wire. Then, in order to strengthen the exposed wire, roll it. Loosen the screws of phase-out switch and put the ire. After completing all these steps, tighten the screws of phase-out switch again.

Safety precautions

When installing an electrical switchboard, your own safety should be the number one priority. It is quite essential to take safety precautions when working with electrical wires and stuff. Always remember to make sure that you wear protective glasses. Furthermore, make sure you wear gloves too. It is essential do so because working without wearing gloves and glasses will not provide you with enough insulation, in case, you get an electrical shock. If there are zero safety precautions taken during the installing of switchboard, it may lead to quite harmful and severe injuries.
