Museumsplatz 1, A-1070 Wien
The mumok is the largest museum in Central Europe for art since modernism. It makes the various aspects of the international and Austrian avant-garde accessible to everyone interested in the arts.
The striking dark grey cuboid structure clad in basalt stone in the middle of the MuseumsQuartier’s Wien houses an unusual collection featuring important works from Classic Modernism, Pop Art, Fluxus, and Viennese Actionism to present-day film and media art.

Architecture Practice Information
Architekturbüro Ortner & Ortner BAUKUNST offices are based in Vienna (Austria), Berlin (Germany) and Rostov (Russia).
According to the architects, their design approach / history, in German:
O&O architecture
The history of this European architectural practice goes back to 1970. The founders Laurids Ortner and Manfred Ortner worked as an artist collective ›Haus-Rucker-Co‹ in Düsseldorf with Günther Zamp Kelp and created projects that programmatically range between the fields of fine art and the architecture moved. Much of it anticipated future developments and had a lasting influence on trends in art.
In the mid-1980s, interest increasingly turned to specific construction tasks. Since then this architecture practice has acted as an architecture office and in 1990 was commissioned to build one of the largest cultural centers in Europe, the Museum Quarter Vienna. Since then, the scope of the tasks has expanded continuously. In addition to other important cultural buildings, numerous residential, commercial and office buildings were built.
