Shirokane House – Tokyo Residence

Design: MDS Co.Ltd. The small site is located in a typical Tokyo urban residential area, where houses are closely built up. A pursuit of internal spaces in this house, as a result, changes the Tokyo cityscape a little.

An area for one floor is usually desired as large as possible, in particular, in such a narrow site. For this house, the first floor area is small due to the parking space and the second floor is, instead, larger. The outer appearance is examined based on ceiling height, slant line regulations for a building shape.

The Floating House, Sustainable Design

The Floating house was designed for French developer H2ORIZON, that specialize in construction of floating structures, by Singapore-based architect Dymitr Malcew. The main goal of the project was to design a house that impacts surroundings in a most minimal way, but at the same time offers flexibility and out of the box living experience

The original house on this waterfront site was a double-skin brick bungalow with warren-like rooms and little connection with the foreshore.

Being in one of the few streets in the Inner West Sydney that are still largely original in their streetscape, any alteration or addition was bound to be somewhere between controversial and impossible.

Generously supported by Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos, the Bezos Center for Innovation is a groundbreaking exhibition dedicated to the theme of innovation, featuring multimedia, interactive and hands-on experiences as well as artifacts, images and oral histories that explore Seattle’s creative history and ignite the innovator within.

Rolf Ockert Design were approached by a bachelor who had just bought a penthouse apartment in an upmarket suburb of Sydney’s East. The apartment occupied the entire top floor of a 1940’s building and had great views over Sydney harbour.

Commissioned by the buildings owner, the brief called for a unified interior de-sign throughout the common areas that included an upgrading of the main lobby, foyers, corridors and amenities. In this particular occasion, the architects have been commissioned to explore the possibilities of combining the functions of a standard coffee shop settlement with the idea of public visual art.

The space is organized with two floors. The first floor has been opened up by erasing all its façade and, therefore, becoming an extension of the public space.

Design: Mather & Co. The new International Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland has opened. The museum has three floors of permanent exhibition galleries. Mather & Co developed the narrative and themes and 3D designs of all the museum spaces. The building is the largest centre dedicated to telling the story of the Olympic Movement.
