Zarid House on the beach of Cabo de Plata
Design: Fran Silvestre Arquitectos. To optimize the vision of the landscape, a series of slender spaces are intertwined as they adapt to the descending topography. Each of these pieces is deposited half a floor below the previous one. This way, its alternating arrangement allows all the spaces to have a direct view over the beach.
Courtyard House on a River in Greenwater, WA
Design: Robert Hutchison Architecture. This small residence located on the banks of the White River five miles from Mt. Rainier quietly blends into the surrounding forest. An entry courtyard serves as a transition space from outdoors to indoors, and keeps the ubiquitous elk herds at bay.

Architect: superkül. Located on the Niagara Escarpment, Compass House’s siting instrumentally establishes orientation. The house sits at the nexus of the land’s constituent characteristics: forests to the west, a hill to the south, and 100 acres of fields to the north and east.
Emigration House in Salt Lake City
Design: Steven Christensen Architecture. This design seeks to preserve the natural character of the canyon and avoid the ‘cherry on top of the sundae’ site strategy dictated by the plat. Oriented on the back side of the knoll, and humble in scale by neighborhood standards.
