The site is in the middle of the historical center of Soignies, a stone throw away from the imposing XII century collegiate that overshadows the surrounding fields.
My intention from the outset has been to create a highly modern 21st century integrated Transportation facility that responds to its position at the foot of the Cointe Hills and from a belief that it must act as a catalyst for regeneration of the Guillemins quarter
The site was formerly occupied by a car park and is set within a cluster of public buildings, including the justice department, federal government finance departments, Brieljant youth centre and the town museum and art gallery.
The site for this new swimming pool is situated on the beach of Oostduinkerke, a small Belgian coast town. The design aimed to create a cross over between the beach and the city centre, extending the dike.

The volume is at the head of a row of buildings, on the corner of the village square. Due to the location, its character is determined by the village square to a large extent.
