On the northern tip of the rapidly developing Zeeburger Island in Amsterdam Studioninedots, commissioned by de Alliantie and Lingotto, designed two striking volumes.
Challenged to design the new Amsterdam Showroom of the international luggage brand Samsonite, i29 interior architects was asked to reflect on the companies spatial brand identity.
Amsterdam, the capital of Netherlands is said to be a city with heart. The polycentric city of Amsterdam has its heart and soul lying in its ring of canals and bridges that bind the concentric and infinite loop that the city is.
The Valley contains offices topped with residences. The jagged, natural stone façade is defined via a parametric tool developed by architects MVRDV with Arup Amsterdam. This provided real-time control over quantities of daylight and sunlight, over structural limitations and required privacy. No two apartments are alike.

The interior is executed in a simple material scheme of large oak wall panels, white plastered walls, dark blue furniture pieces and light grey synthetic floors.
Orange Architects wins tender for Plot 42A, located in heart of harbour on IJburg in Amsterdam. With this winning scheme, called ‘Jonas’, the city has chosen a highly innovative residential building that achieves the highest level of sustainability: BREEAM Outstanding.
DeFlat is an innovative renovation of one of the biggest apartment buildings in The Netherlands called Kleiburg, a bend slab with 500 apartments in Amsterdam’s Bijlmermeer neighbourhood.
REBEL is recognizable from all sides thanks to its 3D-gridwork. This framed construction offers flexibility for programming spaces in an innovative way while retaining the building’s character and coherence.

Patch22 is not only clad with wood, but it has a 30 metres high wooden load bearing structure in which the timber columns, timber beams and wooden walls that remain visible in the interiors of the apartments.
Design: Wiel Arets Architects. The IJhal is a recently completed pedestrian passageway situated within Amsterdam’s central train station, on its the northern, waterside–which abuts the river it’s named for, the IJ.

The inspiration for the info booth pavilion originated from the theme of this year’s festival, biomimicry: the imitation of natural phenomena for the purpose of solving complex human problems.
B.Amsterdam is a pioneering business environment for innovative entrepreneurship, co-designed by NEXT architects. They transformed a large, empty 18.000 m2 office building into an ecosystem with numerous facilities to connect startups, creative entrepreneurs and established companies.
